The skills learned in the retreats provide the basis for a genuine lifestyle lived with mindfulness and sustained by meditation in yoga practice. The 'Certificate in Hatha Yoga Teaching' offers a comprehensive and thorough yoga teacher training programme in a 12-18 month 1600 hour residented week end monthly teacher training programme of workshops and home practice to give you the skills and confidence you need to become a certified yoga teacher. Teachers who have qualified on this programme have reached a high degree of technical knowledge,self-practice and explanation of classical hatha yoga asana and pranayama.

My lifetime of study and practice will expose you to four decades of my praxis (theory and practice developed in combination) in which I have been a keen student of yoga, tai chi, karate and meditation, enjoying teachers of the highest calibre, such as Yogacharya BKS Inenger, who is my foremost teacher.

It is now generally acknowledged that a modern yoga practice that is focused solely on asana (postures and sequences) is not the whole story. Such practice is insufficient in itself to deliver the full promise of yoga’s rich psycho-physical benefits, but can be a good starting point to enjoy the much-promised peace of mind, contentment, physical vitality and well-being that a good yoga practice can deliver. Increasingly people are turning to mindfulness and meditation practices to obtain better results from their mind-body maintenance and development practice time, or for personal health reasons.
However, there are few teachers or systems that can bring the physical and psychological aspects of yoga together in a coherent and accessible manner. The Superyoga practice system will help you achieve a genuine and full yoga practice – beyond the shallow paths of repetitive physical exertion and mystical incantations that have diluted and mystified what is essentially one of humankinds’ best evolutionary social inventions, a sacred way of living that can free us from suffering in a world of material desire, relationship complexity and future uncertainty.
A monthly subscription puts you in the yoga conversation and practice flow directly with Gordon Lee Silence, during which you can engage in the development of your own knowledge and practice in your own space at your own time, or at the retreat in Southern Portugal, experiencing expert guidance. The SuperYoga programme can be accessed remotely, by attending SuperYoga events or visiting the forest retreat in the Algarve. The outcome of the subscription is that you should be able to develop a super yoga practice for yourself for life which will include expert guidance based on for decades of my personal practice and the companionship of like-mindeed travellers on a journey of personal discovery such as yours.
SuperYoga subscribers will receive the above material and then be able to share and comment with other subscribers.
The Superyoga system can be used on a service-by-service basis or by subscription, which packages the services into a regular individualized programme for you to make them more affordable and to make you more committed to your practice. If you wish to become a professional yoga teacher or if you already have a qualification and wish to learn more, you can apply to join in a 12-18 month yoga teacher training course, offering you a comprehensive, mentored, personal, practical work-intensive teacher training system, examining the detail of practicing and teaching hatha yoga correctly. This system condenses the Iyengar teacher training system I undertook into a Neuro-Linguistic Communications approach that teaches you how to practice, explain, demostrate and adjust the postures, breathing and mental states dealt with in genuine Yoga practice. This client centred teaching skill set incorporates Iyengar-based asana and pranayama breath work, NLP advanced communications skills, Zen/Buddhist/Taoist meditation and martial arts mindbody flow techniques.
Your personal self-practice is carefully monitored and integrated with a high degree of group practice and mentored teaching as well as written project work and demonstrations. Students will master how to teach Hatha Yoga in a one year series of weekly online/in situ classes, monthly weekend intensives and four week-long retreats, followed by a six month to one year apprenticeship. Alternatively, a more intensive experience of the course is offered with on-site living in the retreat for the year under a personal daily mentorship programme.
After project work submission, a practical examination on self-practice, an examination on teaching ability and a successful apprenticeship, the student will be awarded a professionally-recognised Certificate in Hatha Yoga Teaching®.
A unique aspect of the course is that successful participants will be able to quickly design and establish their own yoga services under the SuperYoga programme with full support of the Centre to jump start your initial teaching offer.
